Karna Loewenstein is the Heartland 2050 project coordinator and is the day-to-day manager of the project. Karna has worked with MAPA since January 2015. Karna brings a wealth of facilitation and group project work from her previous position serving as Dean of Institutional Advancement at Iowa Western Community College (IWCC) in Council Bluffs IA for eight years and prior to that as the Director of the IWCC Entrepreneurial Center. She also has extensive experience in community and workforce development through her previous position at Coffeyville Community College as Associate Dean of Business and Community Programs.  Karna serves on the Board of Directors for Hughes Irons Inc., a successful  restoration project in the 100 Block of Council Bluffs,  and is an active member of the Leadership Council Bluffs Alumni Association and the Council Bluffs Chamber of Commerce Total Resource Campaign.  Karna will be working directly with project consultants and technical groups on program management, and is charged with oversight of outreach and public engagement activities associated with the project.
